About

Knockouts Comedy Festival is an all female comedy festival in New York City during Women’s History Month.

Mission

Over time, women have fearlessly dismantled the patriarchal structures that once confined them. Whether in education, business, science, or entertainment, women have continued to shatter glass ceilings to reach an equal playing field where their voices resound with unwavering strength. The determined pursuit of equality has given rise to a remarkable phenomenon: women taking center in the world of stand up comedy. Through humor, women have skillfully challenged stereotypes, defied expectations, and delivered powerful narratives that resonate with audiences worldwide. Comedians from Jackie “Moms” Mabley and Phyllis Diller to Carol Burnett and Joan Rivers to Sarah Silverman and Wanda Sykes have become beacons of empowerment, proving laughter can be a formidable weapon.

We’ve heard over and over that “women aren’t funny.” Whether in media or trolls in social media comments, that statement is constantly being thrown around. Though there has been progress over the years (i.e Amy Schumer, Chelsea Handler, Margaret Cho, Ali Wong), late night talk shows, podcasts, television, and the stage are still dominated by men. It’s important for young girls to see more women comedians, to feel represented and inspired. have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
